Welcome to Ingarsby Conservation Ltd, owned and run by Richard Smith and Deborah Masters, specialising in traditional and environmentally friendly building materials.

Since 1999, Richard has been involved in conservation and repair using traditional and environmentally friendly building materials and methods. He has a Master’s Degree in Historic Conservation from Oxford Brookes University and is editor of ‘The Journal of the Building Limes Forum’. This forum is a national charity whose main objects are ‘to encourage expertise and understanding in the use of building limes’.

Deborah specialises in paints, varnishes and other finishes.

The work we carry out is

  • Supply historic and environmentally friendly building materials, mainly from sustainable and renewable resources
  • Run courses on building conservation and the use of traditional building materials for the repair of historic buildings
  • Run courses on the use of natural and environmentally friendly building materials from sustainable resources
  • Advice on repairs and alterations to historic buildings and the use of environmentally friendly materials in modern buildings
  • Supply of technical data and publications
  • Provide a mortar, brick and stone matching service
